It's April and the clock is steadily ticking down the days until the Dallas Fort Worth Doll Show! I'm working through my inventory with an aim to have at least 7 dolls completed for the show. I may have overestimated my abilities with 10 when I forgot that I wanted to enter a doll or two into the contests! Oops! So, now I am back tracking a bit. Last week, I finished up this cutie, Sebastian by Olga Auer.
When I first started learning to paint reborn dolls, I stuck to light skin tones but I find I enjoy creating tanned and darker skin toned dolls more. After painting quite a few brown skin dolls for the show I realized I needed variety for a wider customer base. Originally, Sebastian was going to be a zombie baby, but I decided not to create any alternatives after finding a slim interest in them from show-goers on Facebook. Alas, Sebastian has been created in a blushed peachy skin tone. I usually don't draw/paint all black hair, but I tried something new. I kept the fullness baby soft and thin; I like the results!
